Design Philosophy

I really liked the idea of more pick-and-choose, point-based systems like GURPS, but players don't really like playing them. My solution was to make my own system with a modularized character creation system that still retains the creative freedom to make your character piece-by-piece. That's what Archetype is.

I never want to go setting-specific with base game content, the system should be playable in any setting a GM wants to use. This is why names like Telekinesis are used for magic terms, it's meant to describe the ability most fully without implying anything beyond the ability to move things with your mind.

I also don't like the idea of GMs being overloaded with more and more new content to buy, which is why I'm publishing online for free. I might release a book someday but only if there's enough demand for it.

Also, I'm aware that there's another TTRPG called archetype, I didn't know when I started this project and the original Archetype has been dead for 12-something years and their site no longer works. For distinction in conversations about both, just call this one Red's ARCHETYPE or something. ARCHETYPE is not related to the 2011 tarot card-based system in any way, I didn't know anything about it until years after the ARCHETYPE project first started.

About Me

Hello, my name is Red. You might also know me as Red Hart, I write books sometimes.

I've been working on this TTRPG for some time now and I figured that google sites was probably the best way to make it so here we are.

Thank you for visiting my site, I try to keep it updated but my schedule is always changing.

Someday I might get help keeping the site up to date and the updates are starting to take more and more time the more pages I have, so if anyone else joins the project they'll be listed below.
